Coastal communities caring for seagrass

narooma.jpgThe Community Seagrass Monitoring Project is a community based environmental education and monitoring program, with a focus on nearshore seagrass beds across coastal NSW. The aim of the project is to achieve a collaborated effort from community and experts to monitor and preserve Seagrass across NSW.

We aim to form and support groups across NSW in conducting seagrass monitoring, in order to gather localized information across NSW.

The long-term goal of the project is to provide information that will fill in the gaps between formal monitoring events to aid in decision making processes.

This project is funded by the Australian Government's Envirofund with additional support from the Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment Management Authority and Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority through Oceanwatch Australia.
