About the Narooma - Wagonga Inlet Site

Situated close to Narooma, Wagonga Inlet is fed by three major creeks: Billa Bilba Creek, Burrimbidgee Creek and Punkally Creek. With a waterway of over 6km2, and a catchment of 84km2, the area is a popular tourist and holiday area.

The inlet is known for its excellent recreational fishing and boating. There is currently a ban on commercial fishing here. A charter boat fleet, servicing Montague Island and ocean fishing grounds, moors in Wagonga Inlet. In recent years there have been concerns with respect to water quality from the aquaculture industry.

The inlet is an abundant oyster producer (120 t/yr), and has extensive beds of Posidonia and Zostera.
