About the Manly Site

Manly Cove, Little Manly and Forty Baskets all are sheltered bays within Manly's marine environment. The surrounding waters are Port Jackson, the focal point and primary port for Sydney. Presently, Port Jackson trades in excess of 35 million tonnes of imports and exports annually.

Port Jackson is a major tourist attraction, used for many types of boating activities, and is the fifth largest prawn-producing estuary in NSW (55t/yr).

Port Jackson produces other fish and crustaceans, and is also home to an endangered population of Little Penguins. The only mainland-breeding colony of penguins left in NSW is made up of 60 breeding pairs. Large patches of Zostera, Posidonia and Halophila seagrass species can also be found here.
