About the The Central Coast - Long Jetty Site


Long Jetty and The Entrance are located on Tuggerah Lakes on the Central Coast of NSW. The Central Coast is located between Newcastle and Sydney. Tuggerah Lakes is important for many activities include sailing, water skiing and amateur fishing.

Tuggerah Lakes is 70km2 in area with a massive 745km2 catchment area. (It is comprised of two connected coastal lakes, Tuggerah Lake and Lake Munmorah). The lake is an important feeding ground and habitat for many species of aquatic birds, many of them migratory..

Tuggerah Lakes has the third largest area of estuarine seagrass meadows in NSW (11km2), and is a major commercial fish and prawn producing estuary. Seagrass species found within the Lakes include Zostera, Halophila and Ruppia.
