Membership
  dsc_5765.jpg
FIG was founded in 2008 by a group of like-minded people who were concerned about the lack of access to healthy, safe and sustainable food for the community.

FIG commenced operations in February, 2009 as a non-profit organisation and aims to be a vital hub where members of the local community can connect with locally sourced organic fruit and vegetables including extras, when available, such as eggs, bread, dry goods and member’s surplus home-grown produce.

FIG’s vision is to provide educational talks and/or workshops on topics such as Permaculture, Biodynamics, Transition Towns, organic produce, seed cultivation, bulk storage, cooking and food preparation etc., using the skills of both members and local experts.

As such, FIG is a sharing-based community organisation that can assist you in supporting local farmers and sustainable agriculture. It will be an avenue of education and sustainability and provide an opportunity for you to create and develop worthwhile and rewarding community relationships.

Most of all it provides you with an easy avenue to accessing affordable and local organic wholesome food.

Membership is valid July - June and is $40 ($20 Concession), with half yearly fees available if joining mid year. Members are entitled to receive: their food boxes at a discounted price of $25; access to FIG management meetings; entitled to trade their surplus non-chemical, home grown produce; access to educational workshops at either subsidised prices or free.

Non Members pay $30 for a weekly food box and are not entitled to membership benefits.

How we operatedsc_5769.jpg

FIG’s fresh produce is currently distributed as a boxed system. A standard box contains a fine selection of organic fruit and vegetables, sometimes harvested locally that very morning! We also have access to eggs, breads and in the future, to other organic grocery items.

For FIG to be able to operate as a non-profit community organisation and pass on these bountiful benefits it is imperative that operating tasks be shared amongst the skills and time of our members. FIG currently operates on a voluntary basis, however plans to have one paid position, the shopkeeper/co-ordinator. All other operating tasks require the weekly care and attention of volunteering members. Please register your skills, interests and availability to help out at “The Clubhouse” on Mondays from 3.00 - 5.30 or via email at:  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

For any ‘garden’ to be fantastically productive it requires nurturing and loving, regular amounts of time and attention, energy, input and resources.

Any time, energy and input you have for FIG will help to develop a beautiful ‘garden’ we can all benefit from. What would you like to plant and see grow?

People are always needed to do such things as: dsc_5774.jpg
